1. In yesterday's post, I alluded to Plant recovering from his problems in
the Fall 72 Jap tour to turn in some decent performances during the Winter
"92/93" tour of the UK. Obviously, I meant to type "72/73." My apologies to
all and my most sincere thanks and gratitude to the astute members of this
great community who noted my mistake. In other words, up yours!
2. Hey Dave, that was pretty funny! (whoops! this is a public digest! Sorry
about that.)
3. OK, here's the moment in a Zep song that I hate more than Jean's posts:
The part in "Ozone Baby" when the music stops and a double tracked (or is
that tripletracked?) Plant sings "My own true love, my own true love..."
Ugh, whose idea was that? Hate it.
4. If you could go back in time to one Zep show, which one would it be and
why? And what would you wear to the show? I think I'd like to be front and
center at the Bath 1970 Festival wearing a Farmer Giles outfit that looks
exactly like Jimmy's.
5. I like looking at pictures of Led Zeppelin, but I really don't care for
the music that much. And when I play videos of them, I turn the sound off
and crank up my Warrant CDs. Oh wait, I also love my Zeppelin vanity
license plates and my Zeppelin concert t-shirts.
6. Donny Olker is a closet Paul Rodgers freak. Whoops! Another private
to a public list.
7. I predict that the content of this message directly relating to the
music of Led Zeppelin will be overlooked, while my sophomoric attempts at
humor will generate a multitude of responses and pale imitations.
8. Yes, Page & Plant are releasing a 75 minute CD. The real story, however,
is that new drummer Kimberly Lemmonds Henry's drum solo takes up 20 of
those minutes. You read it here first. My sources tell me that a Ludwig
representative broke down and cried when Kim demolished her custom made
tie-dyed colored kit because Page and Steve Albini requested another take.
Fashion update: Since the P/P tour will be starting before the baseball
season, Kim will forego her usual concert duds - Derek Jeter #2 Yankees
home pinstripe jersey, black spandex biker shorts, black combat boots and
thick black cotton socks, hair tied back in pony tail with a black twistie
- - for the Charles Oakley #34 Knicks "Away" Blue Jersey, white cotton karate
pants with powder blue belt and powder blue Puma Clydes with the orange
stripe. Orange socks and powder blue twisty.
By the way, rumors circulating that Kim had commissioned a Clockwork Orange
outfit, ala Bonzo's road gear circa 1975, complete with bowler hat, are
untrue.
And yes, I have signed up for the tour as Kim's roadie and as usual, I will
be answering to the name "Freakboy" as in "Louder, Freakboy! (tap, tap,
boom, boom!) I said LOUDER!!!!"
9. My dream band:
Shirley Partridge of keyboards
Dick Smothers on bass
Rudy Vallee on ukulele
Tiny Tim on vocals
Zamfir on pan flute
Love,
Billy
