Well I think if you're a musician you can surely appreciate the technique,
but I think LZ was an *emotional* band, not a pure technical one.

You see, Rock is inside you, nobody can teach you how to play, and
especially how to write Rock songs, and many times technique is not so
important (See the Rolling Stones --Okay, okay, Keith Richard is a great
rhythm guitarist, blah, blah, blah :)), you know, you only need a "big,
*big* heart".

Most of LZ songs aren't so hard to play, but the real point is: Could you
ever write that music? Every guitarist who deserves to be called "a guitar
player" can easily play Stairway, but how many of them could have been
*writing* those chords?

So I definitely think you don't need to be a musician to feel music. On the
contrary, I know many musicians that like music *only* when there are big
techique numbers inside, and this is mortally wrong, IMO. Sometimes, to be
a musician means to repress our feelings.

Because every musician has his own "way of touching" the instrument (of
course assuming that he has enough technique to play).

I can easily play all the JPJ bass lines, but this doesn't mean when you
hear at me playing you say "Hey! John Paul Jones!" (and please note I play
in a LZ tribute band). Every musician develope his own style, and IMHO, it
would be stupid to play for years, just to become only a "copy", and please
be sure you will never be the exact copy, ya know... 3/4 months ago we had
a similar debate on DG, about JP sound, his guitar, his amp, etc.,
remember?

That's for sure! You bet! :)

Ciao,
