Well, my dream lineup would be different from most anyone else's I'm sure.
Ronnie VanZant: Vocals
David Gilmour: Guitar&Vocals
Gary Rossington: Guitar
Jimmy Page: Guitar
Richard Wright: Keyboard
John Paul Jones: Bass
John Bonham: Drums
Eric Clapton: additional vocals and guitar
I like a band with a lot of guitar and mixed styles. Granted, not everyone
would play guitar on each song, we all know it can be worked out who does
what on each song and the band doesn't have to lose any chemistry. Lynyrd
Skynyrd always had three guitar players and they were hot live as well as
in the studio. Hell, I'm more inclined to listen to live music from
Zeppelin and Skynyrd than I am studio.
Richard Wright would be a good keyboardist because he knows when and when
not to be up front. He is also very subtle with fills.
Gary Rossington is just one of my favorites for his unique writing style,
and if you question his talent just listen to the intro to Free Bird or
the guitar work on That Smell.
Gilmour still has a voice and has a unique style on guitar as well. It
wouldn't be a Led Zeppelin sound at all however.
Page would be on there because I believe he is the most versatile
guitarist alive.
Clapton is a good singer and guitarist, far above average in both
sections. Granted his shmaltsy work from the past few years is not stuff I
like to listen to.
Ronnie had a powerful voice in his days. He could sing rock, blues,
country and whatever else he wanted to at a particular time. Plus he was a
great frontman and leader that knew that music has a strong dependency on
timing.
John Bonhan was the best drummer of all time imo.
John Paul Jones had many talents but his bass work is some of the best
I've heard and could be fit into a sound that I would like to hear from
the band.
