Live BBC Review

Hi folks-

Here's the review /preview of the BBC release in the San Francisco
Examiner today 11/9/97-if you wish to respond back to this bozo's lame
reference to TSRTS and other little hints of destruction you can email
the editor at pink@xxxxxxxxxx, please include your name, City and State:

Led Zeppelin
- -Live on the BBC

**** (only gets four stars out of five!!!)
$24.99

"Depending on your orientation, this is one of those half-full/half empty
propositions. It is, after all, the long overdue Led Zeppelin live
album-"The Song Remains The Same" was technically a movie soundtrack, as
well as a skimpy representation of Zep's concert prowess.

Culled from three 1969 BBC broadcasts and one particularly legendary 1971
show that included early performances of "Stairway to Heaven" and "Black
Dog," this double-disc set traces Zep's evolution from its tentative
early steps to the majestic powerhouse it became during the early 70's.
Renditions of songs such as "Dazed and Confused," "Whole Lotta Love" and
Willie Dixon's "I Can't Quite You Baby" outline the band's quicksilver
growth during that period.

Devotees and bootleg connoisseurs will (rightly) grouse over the
hatcheting that's been done to the shows and even to some
songs-particularly the edited "Whole Lotta Love" medley from 1971. But
most everyone else will be uttering a sincere "thank you" and hoping
there's more of this stuff in the vaults.
