Copying tapes/vinyls to CD-R

Hi,

does anyone have some experience with copying tapes and/or vinyls to 
CD-Rs? What setup do it need? [I have a CD-R, do I need some special 
type of a sound card?] What software do I need? What are the 
pitfalls? Please tell me as much as you can.
