Because a mailing list of nearly 700 active accounts of people interested in
rock music, recording equipment and supplies, etc. is a valuable commercial
commodity.  If it were published on the list, or available by sending the
majordomo a simple command, anyone who happened to be subbed at the time
could grab it and sell it to a spammonger.  Jean
